ANNUAL MEETING & LUNCHEON

Since 1889, our Annual Anniversary Luncheon has been a gala affair. For many years it was held in January; now it is an April occasion and has become our Annual Business Meeting as well as a general Alumnae Reunion and a festive, social function. Where possible, the Luncheon is held the day after Career Day so that out-of-town alumnae can attend both events.

The program includes a guest speaker who is always a sister alumna who has distinguished herself in her career or her community. The school principal attends and provides information on "Girls' High Today". Honor classes (five, ten years and their multiples) have the opportunity to meet before the luncheon and are recognized during the awards ceremony where the Alumnae Association Awards are also presented:

Award of Honor - GHS grad who has distinguished herself in her profession or career and/or appointment or election to public office.
Award of Merit - GHS faculty or staff member whose outstanding contribution has enhanced the school or the Alumnae Association.
Award of Service - GHS grad active in the Alumnae Association for approximately ten years as a board member or officer, who has contributed diligent efforts to benefit the school through the Alumnae Association.

The annual corporate meeting is also held and of course the afternoon concludes with the traditional singing of the Alma Mater and Fidelitas.
